Teenagers are opinionated. ESPECIALLY about what someone is wearing. I took a survey asking for their fashion Hot Takes. Here’s what they said:
What was your favorite summer fashion trend?
Denim shorts with designs on the back pockets. They look adorable and I feel like some denim shorts are just boring.

MV: Ugh, BIG agree. It’s also an easy way to personalize your outfit, show your style in a practical way! They’re soo cute and can be so unique to each person!
Jean shorts with a baggy top!! I really like the baggy on tight, it’s very casual but doesn’t look like you just rolled out of bed.

MV: For me, it depends on how baggy the shirt is and how short the shorts are. If I can see your shorts under the hem, it’s a no for me. I don’t think it marches into ‘just rolled out of bed’ territory just yet, but I see what you mean!
I really liked the revival of retro/y2k fashion. I think it’s really pretty, and personally, it’s a style I really like.

MV: 100% agree! I grew up with a 1999 sister, so I saw all the fashion of Y2K, and let me tell you, I dress like her now. There’s so much personality you can fit into one outfit with that style, since it encompasses so many different subcultures!
When everyone had a pop of red for some reason. It was really cute and fiery, I liked it.

What was a summer fashion trend you did not like?
Knitted shorts with a t-shirt, it just doesn’t go together.

MV: I have to disagree! I think most things can be cute if styled correctly, but I DO get clashing textures not looking good together! I’ve seen some really adorable versions of it that look so simple and cute, like for getting groceries or just a hangout.
Bubble skirts and tabis because I personally think I wouldn’t pull it off but I’ve definitely seen some people pull it off sometimes.

MV: Long bubble skirts are unfortunately one of my Nots. I think they really only work on runways and similar fashion-related events. The short ones are adorable though! Tabis are for SURE an only-fashion-show kind of shoe. Casual is NOT what they were made for.
Labubus….. put it doowwwn. They’re ugly and expensive for a little piece of nothing.

MV: Careful there, you might get got for that! Unfortunately, I am not immune to the Ugly and Stupid Thingy propaganda. I had one of those Feisty Pets monkey stuffy as a kid that I LOVED. I’m not paying that much money for a tiny doll, though. I’m broke.
I did not like high rise jean shorts.

MV: I think they can be very cute, but the current trends definitely are all mid-to-low rise pants. Usually high-rise pants make the top of my stomach hurt from being compressed, so I prefer the low-rise!

Every Fashion style is pretty, you just need to know how to pull it off and find your style.

MV: 100% agree! So many styles are called ugly when they really just haven’t been styled well! Simple things like belts and varying lengths make such a big difference in an outfit’s success.
The kitty heels are super cute or like any animal paw shaped shoes! And I like mixing metals.

MV: Hmmm, I’m not really sure about the animal shaped shoes to be honest. BUT! I can see the appeal for the more quirky styles. I do love seeing them on runways! They show creativity.

MV: I love them! They add nice silhouettes to outfits!
People should be allowed to wear what they want without feeling judged, but they also need to have awareness of how to dress properly for where they are going/the occasion. For example, if you’re going to school and you want to wear shorts, you should wear shorts. But they shouldn’t be too short… if that makes sense.
