Cheerleading

Captains: Jaymie Greco and Ella Riofrio Coach: Kelsey Stockton

Highlights for the season for the team included hitting their game day routine at the sectional competition and beating four teams. Next year, the team hopes to have a strong and great winter competition season!!

Boys and Girls Cross Country

Boys Captain: Matthew Van Buskirk

Girls Captain: Erin Hennessey

Coaches: Will Ford and Joe Scelia

Highlights for the season included the team winning the league meet, coming in second at counties, third at coaches invitational, and tied for second at Queensbury pre state invitational. Also, the team enjoyed having multiple people meddling every race. Connor, Will, Odin, Matthew, and Luke went sub 17 minutes in the 5k. Clearly, the team is putting in a lot of work. Girls personal recorded many times throughout the course of the season. Also, senior Rosemary Mahoney medaled in the Coaches Invitational at Bowdoin Park, running her personal best and placing 25th overall and medaling, getting 40th in the Northern county championships. Looking forward, the team is hoping to win the section and go to states

Field Hockey – Girls Varsity

Captains: Kaitlyn Flanagan and Skylar Schmitt

Coaches: Gabby Pacheco (Head) and  Jamie Flanagan (Assistant)

Seasonal record: 2-10

Varsity Field Hockey had a fantastic game against Byram Hills, finishing with a 5-2 win, with goals scored by Gabby Nisianakis (3 goals), Kylie Goodlife (1) and Devyn Hoahing (1). The team went into this game with amazing energy, with everyone laughing and smiling all while locking in and showing up to play with high intensity and their best efforts. The players’ hard work paid off and secured them the awesome win. This game was definitely a game to remember. The team’s talented goalie Haley Jaconetti had an outstanding season, finishing the season with over 200 saves. Her teammates are so proud of her and her hard work, dedication, and determination to be the best goalie she can for the team.

The team hopes to continue playing with grit and their highest effort, leading to big wins and highly competitive games. They hope to do so all while having fun every day at their games and practices, making sure they grow and get better together. They plan on making it to sectionals to compete against the best teams at a high competitive level next year and all the years following.

Field Hockey – Girls JV

Captains: Giuliana Drejaj, Megan Hennessy, and Chloe Zappoli

Coaches: Jamie Flanagan and Gabriella Pacheco

Seasonal record: 1-1-11

Although the team lost every game except one game (it was against Carmel 1-0), and they tied against North Salem, there was still a lot to celebrate. There were lots of goals scored, many carries up the field by Giuliana Drejaj, lots of defensive tackles by Janella and Sam, many goals saved by Kinza, with Chloe having good passes up the field, and the entire team going strong against difficult teams. Looking at the future, the team desires to be more team-oriented!

Football – Boys Varsity

Captains: Luke Cunningham, Tre Ficarra, Cameron LaMoreaux, Jack McKenney, and Chase Prohaszka

Coaches: Ed Mulvihill (Head), Ryan Cleary, Matt Cunningham, Mike Honey, Don Polverari, and Jeff Snyder

Seasonal record: 5-4

Seasonal highlights include the Homecoming win over Lakeland (41-13), the win over cross-town rival Carmel at home (36-14), with some individual standout performances from Chase Prohaszka rushing for over 1,000 yards this season and Jack McKenney recording seven sacks this year. Next year, the team looks forward to continuing to be a playoff contender and win against their league opponents (Mahopac and Yorktown).

Football – Boys JV

Captains: Thomas Casey, Liam McKenney, and Nicholas Prigitano

Coach: Nick Leahy

Seasonal record: 4-3

The team was especially proud of their 4th quarter comeback in the Yorktown game where they won 13-12. Next season, the team is looking forward with high hopes and excitement.

Soccer – Boys Varsity

Captains: Dante Gulla, and Andy Sagastume

Coaches: Marco Ortega and Gene Sepe

Seasonal record: 2-13-3

Coming into the season as an underdog team, every opponent in the section assumed it was the same old Brewster Soccer team they faced each year. In the first game of the season against Yorktown, Brewster managed to tie the match 1-1 thanks to Dante Gulla’s goal in the ninth minute of the second half. This year, they focused on learning from the mistakes made and fixing them next year in hopes of achieving better results. They emphasized building trust among teammates and ensuring everyone could rely on one another. They also aimed to have strong leaders who would represent the team well and set a positive example for the younger players.

Captains: Nick Churyeck, George Mahoney, Victor Hortencio, and Henry Naughton

Coach: Dominique Corrao

Seasonal record: 4-8

A highlight for the team this year was their 8-0 win against Poughkeepsie. Looking to next year, the team hopes to achieve a 500 record.

Soccer – Girls Varsity

Captain: Josephine Armon

Coaches: Michael Fratto and Kristen Ohberg

Seasonal record: 3-11-2

The Girls Varsity Soccer team showed heart and determination through a challenging 3–11–2 season. Despite tough results, the team’s spirit did not waver throughout the season, causing every game to be played with effort, pride, and unity. A memorable moment is when the team pulled off a last second goal vs Carmel to tie up the game. From strong defensive stands to last minute goals and amazing saves, the team grew closer and stronger each week. Though the record doesn’t show it, this season was definitely one of resilience, growth, and the bond that makes this team special. As for next year, the season may be over, but the team is expected to flourish even more.

Soccer – Girls JV

Captains: Jenelle Estevez and Marjorie Palma

Coach: Brianna Thomas

Seasonal record: 8-5-1

The team had a good number of highlights, with some of them here: when their captain Jenelle hit a hat trick, when Diana made a penalty, when Marjorie made her first goal, when the twins Natalie and Tati worked hard to move the ball around and running up and down, and their one and only goal from Isabella M the freshman. Next season, the team hopes to work on communication, releasing the ball more, and passing to the feet.

Swimming – Girls Varsity

Captains: Madison Feller and Megan Pawlowski

Coach: Patty Kaufman

Looking back on this fantastic season, all of the girls improved their skills and achieved several personal bests. Madison Feller made the sectional cut for the 50 and 100 freestyle. At the divisional meet she won 1st place in the 100 free and 2nd place in the 50 free overall. Other highlights for the team include how everyone has been breaking personal bests/records all season. Looking forward, the team hopes to see more girls join the team and work harder to achieve goal times.

Tennis – Girls Varsity

Captains: Ava DiBenedetto and Hannah Meyer

Coaches: Melissa Geiger, and Shirley Sanfardino

Seasonal record: 5-7

There were many highlights for the team this season that included the strong, positive relationships the team made this year. Through long bus rides, amazing wins, and difficult losses, they always stuck together and cheered each other on. They also won their first match of the season, with two singles wins and two doubles wins! First doubles players Cassie Fox and Tatum Bettcher were on fire, winning their first three matches of the season. After a two and half long bus ride to Sleepy Hollow, they still got a team win! Fourth doubles players Emma Dinkler and Sammy Schnatz even finished their game in the dark, winning 6 – 3. Seniors Hannah Meyer and Ava DiBenedetto won their singles matches of their final Varsity Tennis season, 8-4 and 8-1, respectively.

The team, looking to next year, want to just keep up the great work! Everyone has improved so much this season, and the hope is that they strive to continue doing so.

Unified Flag Football

Coaches: Donna Schneider and Robert Daly

The highlights of the unified flag football season was getting to go to MetLife stadium and getting to meet Eli Manning along with other Giants players. The Giants hosted a camp which allowed all of the athletes to do three different drills involving a Giants player at each drill. The team got the chance to catch a pass from Eli Manning which was an amazing experience. They also ran a pulling flag drill with one of the Giants defensive linemen, and the team members also did a drill where they had to avoid getting their flag pulled by the number one Girls Flag Football player in the world. It was all a great experience for the athletes, the partners, and all of the coaches. The team and coaches can’t thank them enough.

Volleyball – Boys Varsity

Captains: Dylan Fantini, Jack Keating, and Sam Ribaudo (Asst.)

Coach: Rob McCollum

Seasonal record: 4-15

The highlights of their volleyball season were the wins they had. They were all well deserved wins and the team put all of their effort in them, doing an amazing job. The group also had highlights in the close games they had, where they went 5 sets with Edgemont who is 13-2, where they ended up losing, but they played the best they could have played. The team played Arlington (who is one of the best teams in the section) really well. And they also kept up with Lakeland in a close game. Additional highlights included Jack Keating’s 18 kills vs Edgemont. According to the captains, they were a young team without too much experience, but with more experience with playing next year, they should be sure to improve. They are also looking forward to making the playoffs and competing with the better teams.

Volleyball – Girls Varsity

Captains: Avery Dudones and Amirah Alexander

Coaches: Hannah Aull and Tom Fabiani

Seasonal record: 3-15

This season was filled with exciting challenges and growth as the team faced tough competitors. What made this year especially impressive was the contribution of the underclassmen starters who stepped up and helped better the team. The seniors (Mia Manzo, Amirah Alexander, Avery Dudones, Amya Aviles, Danna Hernandez Madrid, and Madison Frances) will be greatly missed due to all of their impact on the team. The team is looking forward to another great season next year with their returners.

Volleyball – Girls JV

Captains: Bailey Charboneau and Leiada Irizarry

Coach: Aidan Babnik

Seasonal record: 2-10

The Brewster JV Volleyball team wrapped up an incredible season filled with growth, teamwork, and determination. From the very first serve to the final match, their athletes demonstrated consistent improvement, strong communication, and relentless energy on the court. Each player embraced their role, contributing to the team’s chemistry and competitive edge. A standout performance came from Leiaida Irizarry, whose leadership, hustle, and serving consistency set the tone for the team’s success. Her ability to rally teammates during tight sets showcased the heart of what Brewster Volleyball represents. Aralyn Lopez, along with great leadership, also strengthened her defensive skills while playing the middle position, showing that with hard work and determination, improvement in all areas of the game is possible. While the scoreboard didn’t always reflect the team’s effort, the true highlight of the season was the team’s unity and commitment to improvement. Their seasonal expectations looking forward is to continue growing and getting better as a team. This group laid a solid foundation for future success! Go Bears!!
