The Billboard top 10 this week shows a very interesting mix of sounds, styles, and artists, from soulful songs to high energy K-pop tracks. Listening to this list feels like exploring a variety of musical worlds, each with its own story and emotion, creating a memorable lineup and captivating its listeners.

1) “Golden” (HUNTR/X, EJAE, AUDREY NUNA, REI AMI, Kpop Demon Hunters Cast) – This song is honestly great and for good reason. It starts with a catchy slow beat, then escalates to a satisfying bass drop. During the singing, there is a perfect balance of slower and faster parts, as well as a nice harmony with high and low notes. Additionally, when they sing in Korean, it just blends in perfectly. This song has so far been everywhere and I don’t think it’s going away any time soon.

2) “Ordinary” (Alex Warren) – This song I also love, it reminds me a little bit of “Golden Hour” by JVKE because of how he describes the woman in the song. The strings in the beginning, for me, provoke emotion and a feeling of being weightless when the drums start. His voice is also amazing, with a mix of emotional highs and lows.

3) “Soda Pop” (Saja Boys, Andrew Choi, Neckway, Danny Chung, KEVIN WOO, samUIL Lee, Kpop Demon Hunters Cas) – This song, to me, is a little overplayed and annoying. It is from the movie K-Pop Demon Hunters and has a catchy sound but overall isn’t the strongest song from the movie. I don’t like it that much but clearly a lot of people do considering it’s number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100.

4) “Man I Need” (Olivia Dean) – I just listened to this song a few weeks ago and I like it. Although it is a slower song, the steady drum beat in the song keeps your attention. This song has a bit of an Amy Winehouse vibe because of Olivia’s soulful voice, on top of the fact that it has a 70s’, 80s’ sound/style of music which I love.

5) “Iris Out” (Kenshi Yonezu) – I can’t say I like this song because I don’t really know what’s happening, but there are some interesting elements to point out. First off is that during the middle section of the song there is a jazzy style of music with piano and trumpet. Another thing to point out is that even though you might not know what is being said, the beat of the song and rapping keeps your attention.

6) “Tit for Tat” (Tate McRae) – I also only heard this song a little while ago and I like it. It is an upbeat song with lots of interesting sounds in the background. For example, electric sounding bass in the background and a kind of whistle-ish sounding sound in the background (if that makes sense). Overall, I do like the electric sound of the song.

7) “Your Idol” (Saja Boys, Andrew Choi, Neckway, Danny Chung, KEVIN WOO, samUIL Lee, Kpop Demon Hunters Cast) – This song I like more than Soda Pop because I like more of the bass and low parts in it. This is another song from K-Pop Demon Hunters which appears towards the end of the movie. Besides the song, the video for it is cool with deep pink, orange, and red lighting representing the demonic side of the group.

8) “Back to Friends” (sombr) – I really like this song because it is catchy with a nostalgic feel. His voice also gives a bit of a Benson Boone vibe. At the beginning of the song I really like the piano and drum set beat created before the vocals. I also really like his higher pitched voice in the beginning of the song and then as it transitions to a deeper more natural tone then up again. I really like this song and will be adding it to my playlist.

9) “How it’s Done” (HUNTR/X, EJAE, AUDREY NUNA, REI AMI, Kpop Demon Hunters Cast ) – This song is one of my favorite songs from the K-Pop Demon Hunters soundtrack. It is a super upbeat and visually interesting song. The song is super catchy and well produced with a mix of rapping and emotion invoking like Rumi’s A5 in this song.

10) “Die With a Smile” (Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars) – This song has been out for a while and I have definitely heard it before. It is not my favorite song but it is a good song and you can’t deny that Bruno Mars and Lady Gaga are a good duo. It is also an emotional song if you listen to the words. If you hear it anywhere you will have it stuck in your head for the rest of the day.
