As weather shifts throughout Brewster, getting colder and closer to winter break, students have started relying on more than just weather apps and the news. Students whisper the same hopeful questions: ¨Do you think we will have a snow day? Or at least a delay?¨ I want to know what he students of Brewster do to potentially get a snow day. So, two students from each grade were asked:
What do you do on snow days? Do you have any snow day superstitions or traditions around this time of the year?
Seniors
Starting off with Brewster’s class of 2026 seniors, the first person interviewed was Aidan Bisignano, one of our All-League Varsity football athletes. He stated, “Some of my snow days superstitions usually consist of me flipping my pillow case inside out, putting a spoon behind it, and wearing socks to bed. Hoping there is a snow day, I wake up early, eat pancakes, and go sledding with my friends. My favorite holiday tradition is watching ‘Home Alone’ while eating cookies with my family.” Next up is one of our committed athletes, Ava Medina. She expressed, “On snow days I like to lay in my bed, go to Starbucks, and get nacho fries from Taco Bell. I do not really have any snow day superstitions but when I hear it’s going to snow I just don’t set my alarm for school, hoping that it gets canceled. My favorite holiday tradition would be going to grandpa’s house for Christmas Eve with my whole family.”
Juniors
Regarding Brewster’s junior class of 2027, the first interviewed was Kaitlyn Flanagan, another talented committed athlete. She said, “Some superstitions I have are putting my pjs on inside out, ice in the toilet, and praying. On snow days I like to relax with a nice cup of hot chocolate looking at the snow. During this time me and my family love to decorate the tree.” Following, the next person interviewed was Aidan Fisher. He stated, “My favorite tradition is cutting down the Christmas tree with my family. I don’t have any snow day superstitions, but on snow days I train for baseball indoors getting ready for the upcoming season.”
Sophomores
As for our sophomore class of 2028, first interviewed was Sebastian Santiago. He said, “I stay home and have hot chocolate on snowy days. I don’t have any superstitions. But around this time of year I like to fit as many grapes as I can in my mouth on New Years Eve for good luck starting off the new year.” The next interviewee was Alexa DiBiccari. She expressed, “On snow days I usually sleep all day with a holiday movie playing. My favorite holiday tradition is hosting New Years Eve at my house and having a bunch of my family and friends over.”
Freshmen
Lastly, our freshman class of 2029. The first freshman interviewed was Sofia Antalosky. She stated, “I stay inside on snow days because I don’t like the cold. But my favorite thing to do during Christmas is making cookies.” To wrap things up our last interviewee was Derrick Crivelli. He expressed that, “On snow days I like to ski. For snow days I don’t really have any superstitions. But around the holidays I love to watch ‘The Grinch’ since it’s such a classic.”
So keep up those traditions and lets wear those pajamas inside out with a spoon under our pillows!
