As a Brewster student (Class of 2025), Cassidy Fallon was an essential part of the Brewster Girls Volleyball team. As a middle hitter, she led the team to the Section 1 Class AA Volleyball Championship against Horace Greely in November 2024 after a 10-8 winning season. Making the elite LoHud Watchlist, Cassidy was a major player in the volleyball world, something she carried over to her college career as a freshman student-athlete at Manhattanville University.
Behind the scenes at Manhattanville Volleyball, the Valiants have been Skyline conference champions for the past 4 years straight. They dominate any court they are on, whether that court is all the way up in SUNY Plattsburgh or down at New York University. The Valiants are giving you a game you’ll never forget.
I sat down with freshman Cassidy Fallon to ask her questions about her experience so far as a student-athlete at the Division III level.
MM: Why Division 3?
Fallon: “I love being able to balance sports and school and also a social life. It helps me stay organized, motivated, and also enjoy other parts of my life instead of just having to choose one. It makes the experience more enjoyable and less overwhelming.”
MM: What is the best part about being a D3 student-athlete?
Fallon: “The best part about being a D3 athlete is that you already come into college with a community to welcome you into a new environment. It took off a lot of the stress of trying to find a whole new group. My teammates are some of my closest friends.”
MM: What is the hardest part about being a student-athlete?
Fallon: “The hardest part is having to keep up with all the work and also missing some classes while in season. It takes a lot of discipline and good time management to keep up. It also requires a lot of strong communication with professors, as well.”
MM: How much have you grown as an athlete since your high school career?
Fallon: “Since my high school seasons, I’ve grown tremendously as a person and as an athlete. I’ve learned not to compare myself to others because everyone is special at what they do on and off the field/court. Also competing at a collegiate level and living up to Manhattanville’s volleyball legacy, I have learned how to be mentally tough on and off the court.”
MM: What is your most memorable moment so far?
Fallon: “My most memorable moment was this past season winning our conference championship for the fourth year in a row and then going to the NCAA tournament in Boston as a team. Being able to compete in a tournament I have grown up watching, it was truly a dream come true.”
Fallon is clearly a model and indicator for the D3 student/athlete life. Brewster is so proud of what she has accomplished post-graduation, and we wish her the best of luck in her volleyball career.
