WEB EXCLUSIVE: Brewster Students Organize Walkout in Wake of Robb Elementary Shooting (Photo Gallery)

In the wake of the mass shooting at Robb Elementary School which claimed the lives of nineteen students and 2 teachers, students at Brewster High School planned a walkout. Students Aidan Loeffel and Nina DeFazio planned the school-wide walkout on June 8th to work towards change and gun control. Along with a committee of their peers and the support of the administration, Loeffel and DeFazio were able to plan a walkout for over 200 people and raise awareness for gun control by having students write letters to the victim’s families as well as to senators. This event was an incredible sign of support for additional gun control, and these students have achieved an incredible feat with this event. This walkout included a moment of silence and the reading of the names of those we lost at Robb Elementary School. The students at Robb Elementary School will live on forever in our hearts. With events like these, this movement is working towards ensuring that mass shootings become less frequent.
