With so many BHS sports stars, most wonder, where are they now? Many of them have returned here to our school where they teach and coach. Our district is filled with a variety of star athletes who returned to their home turf to make a difference in the sports and the classroom. Here are many who are with us now.

With so many BHS sports stars, most wonder, where are they now? Many of them have returned here to our school where they teach and coach. Our district is filled with a variety of star athletes who returned to their home turf to make a difference in the sports and the classroom. Here are many who are with us now.

Grace Galgano

Grace graduated from BHS in 2022. She was the first player in BHS history to make 1000 points and catch 1000 rebounds! She currently attends Roberts Wesleyan University and plays basketball there as well.

Miss Borsari

At BHS, Miss Borsari played softball, basketball, and volleyball. She graduated high school with the BHS class of 2017. In college, she played basketball. She graduated college in 2020. She coaches girls in modified softball and teaches the life skills class, both at Wells Middle School.

Mr. Scelia

Mr. Scelia went to BHS and graduated in the class of 1997. Here at the high school, he ran varsity cross country and track. He was a two-time All-State and three-time All-Section. Mr. Scelia got a full D1 athletic scholarship to D1 school Marist College, where he ran cross country along with winter and spring track. He is even on the Brewster Athletic Wall of Fame! Mr. Scelia ran in the National Cross Country Championship Meets in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and Providence, Rhode Island. Currently, Mr. Scelia is a math teacher and has been the head coach of the BHS cross country and track and field teams for the past 22 years here at the high school.

Miss Pastore

A former student here at BHS, Miss Pastore is now our writing coach. She graduated in 2018 and played 4 years of varsity hockey and 3 years of varsity lacrosse. She also mentioned that her team went to the US semifinals in her senior year! She went to SUNY Cortland and played both field hockey and lacrosse for the school’s club teams.

Mr. Cleary

Playing football and lacrosse during his time at the high school, Mr. Cleary graduated in 1997. He also played a semester of lacrosse when he transferred to St. Michael’s in Vermont. He said that he played a few lacrosse games for Western Connecticut State University’s club team before they were varsity sports when he was a graduate student there. He graduated with the class of 2001. Currently, Mr. Cleary is a math teacher and a football and lacrosse coach here at BHS.

Mr. Trainor

Mr. Trainor played football, basketball, and baseball at BHS. After high school, he played baseball at the College of Mount Saint Vincent (which has since changed its name to the University of Mount Saint Vincent). He graduated with the class of 2007. He is currently a math teacher and the varsity baseball coach here at Brewster.

Coach Ohberg

While here at BHS, Coach Ohberg played soccer, basketball, and lacrosse and graduated in 2013. She continued to play lacrosse in college at SUNY Cortland from 2014–2017. She is currently a gym teacher and the varsity lacrosse coach at BHS.

Mrs. Flanagan

Staring in middle school, Mrs. Flanagan played basketball from grades 7-9, along with field hockey and softball through grades 7–12 at Brewster. She played softball at Stony Brook University as a freshman, transferred to Cortland University, and continued to play softball there through her senior year. She was a part of the class of 2007. Mrs. Flanagan is a Social Studies teacher and the modified girls lacrosse coach.

All of the athletes I covered were very talented at their sports and put in a lot of work and dedication to get where they did. They are all doing very impressive things now! Their examples inspire those of us who strive in our sports and may someday return to teach and coach here at BHS.
