As you may all know, summer is pretty close, and since it is almost here, we as students tend to want to go places and do activities to distract ourselves and create wonderful memories. However, some of us don’t know exactly what to do either because there are too many options and activities to choose from or just because we don’t exactly know what to expect from these activities. So let me break it down for you. Some outdoor activities you should have in mind are:
Hiking
When you’re hiking you are able to experience the sense of belonging in nature. You enjoy the view while you exercise and create connections with your surroundings. In addition, during hiking you can also do some other fun activities such as taking pictures, enjoying the view, creating art and enriching your creativity with lots of perspectives and a way to appreciate what you are able to observe.
Biking
When you are biking you generally focus on your surroundings and make sure you follow the rules of the road rail. During this activity you can share wonderful experiences with your friends, family, or even with yourself. You can enjoy nature and connect with others. In addition, when spending time with your friends during this activity, you can share wonderful stories and pay attention to the sounds of nature, such as birds or the wind. Moreover, you can use this activity to contemplate or to process thoughts.
Camping
There are a lot of fun activities you can do while camping with activities such as:
- Roast marshmallows
- Tell stories
- Play games (including: board games, card games, etc.)
- Take a nap
- Enjoy a quiet time in nature
- Prepare meals over an open fire
- Read and just spend time with the ones you love and enjoy being around.
Fishing
This activity can be done in a parent or child, friends or significant other situations. Fishing is a great way to connect with nature.
Kayaking
Kayaking is a water sport where you propel a small boat across the water using a paddle. It can be done by friends or family or by yourself, and it is a fun and enjoyable way to usefully spend your free time.
Rock climbing
Rock climbing requires focus, concentration, problem-solving skills to navigate the route, strength, endurance and agility. This sport challenges you mentally and physically.
Birdwatching
Studies have shown that bird watching can reduce stress and improve mental well-being leading to better focus, concentration, and appreciation towards nature.
Horseback riding
This sport requires balance, coordination and concentration. It sets a stage for people to exercise, interact with nature, and promote physical, cognitive and emotional development
Swimming
Swimming requires a lot of physical movement, especially on your arms and legs. Swimming requires different techniques and can physically prepare you for any challenges.
Golf
Golf is a cross country game where the goal is to hit the goal into a series of holes using as few strokes as possible, this challenges your concentration and problem solving skills.
Stargazing
Stargazing allows you to step outside and appreciate the vastness and beauty of the night sky, connecting you to something larger than yourself.
