“…A Triumph”
What would you do being the president of a racially and economically divided nation? Nelson Mandela thought that through the universal language of sports he could show to his country that it is invictus -or invincible. He hoped to prove that the South African rugby team could become the underdogs of the 1995 World Cup Championship match.
The movie Invictus is about how Nelson Mandela placed his bets on rugby to unite his country. It was based on the true historic tale of Nelson Mandela’s journey as president of South Africa. As he becomes president, people quit their jobs in presidential office because they simply wouldn’t support him and those who stayed lost their patience with him. But, Mandela kept his supporters with powerful words and simple logic. After talking with the South African rugby team, he gave hope to his people because quickly the team exceled enough to be in the World Cup Championship.
I was skeptical because I thought it would be another overrated film but, I saw it opening night hoping to prove myself wrong-and I did. The film is fascinating and magnificent. I think it will be very successful in the upcoming weeks. I didn’t see the beginning because I was a few minutes late but, I think it’s safe to say this film is captivating from start to finish.
This film stars Oscar winners Morgan Freeman (“Million Dollar Baby,” “The Dark Knight”) and Matt Damon (“Good Will Hunting,” the “Bourne” series) making this movie a must see for moviegoers everywhere ( not to mention, it is directed by Clint Eastwood).
Invictus is a true masterpiece.

Sounds great. I’ll have to see it. Excellent writing!
