Handy Paws Provides for the Community

Handy+Paws+Provides+for+the+Community

Handy Paws Service is a service that provides assistance to the BHS faculty, staff, clubs and activities. Whether it be helping with fundraising, catering meetings or hanging signs, they are available throughout the school year. The service has had so much success that they are now reaching out to non-profit organizations in the community. They bake every other week for Ann’s Place, a place that provides support to people living with cancer and their loved ones. In May, they will be planting gardens at Friends of Karen, a place supporting critically ill children and their families. To date they have done the following for BHS:

  • Catered 4 faculty meetings with 2 more scheduled before the end of the school year
  • Hung signs for the Varsity Club, Salty Hands, the Guidance Department, and Nurses
  • Folded and organized t-shirts for Mr. Brewster’s fundraiser
  • Made Cancer Awareness Ribbons for BSAC
  • Baked for the Relay for Life Kick-Off event
  • Laminated 1000 Safety Signs for Officer Kraisky
  • Sold bracelets for the Water for Sudan fundraiser
  • Assisted in the collection and bagging of sneakers for Kenya

This service provides the students in the Career Skills Classes the opportunity to give back and get involved in the mainstream. It gives them a sense of belonging and acceptance by the Brewster High School Community.
