Youth Awards Given for Character

Youth Awards Given for Character

Characters is defined as who we are when no one is looking but sometimes the best character is shown in front of people, in the actions you do and the people you help. Recently, two of Brewster’s seniors, Diana Vink and Kayla Fox, were given the Putnam County Youth Service Award for their outstanding community service work and their upstanding character as members of this community. Their consideration and ultimate care for their community allowed them to win this award. Given by the Putnam County Youth Bureau, this award requires a strenuous process where they were invited to send in applications including a service log and multiple recommendations, reflecting their character and their community service. This award was given to fourteen teens in Putnam County, specifically chosen based on their applications after their nominations. Diana Vink (left) and Kayla Fox (right) were honored with this award for their excellent character and their community service. These two students were two of fourteen youths awarded this award. Their community service has made them exceptional people, and this award was rightfully given to Diana and Kayla for their combined service throughout many clubs, sports, and so much more. We at Brewster High School are so proud of both of these selfless achievers not only for their accomplishments but also for this award. As they’re graduating this year, they will be sorely missed by those who know them, from teachers to the student body. This award is an indication of the impact they will have on the people and around them as they’re set to do some great things for their communities in the future. We wish them all the luck with their future endeavors and can’t wait to see the additional changes they make in the world.
